When People Ignore You: 10 Reasons You May Turn People Off

ignore-someone

Nothing is worse than feeling ignored and left out. When people ignore you, it might be time to evaluate your behavior and your relationships.

There are times when we go through an emotional rough patch in life and we see things that aren’t really there. Often, when we don’t feel good about who we are, we misread other people and place intention where there is none. When people ignore you, ask yourself why do they? But, you may or may not be misreading the signals, and it might have nothing to do with you.

There are ways we make people in our lives uncomfortable and drive them away. Often, we are completely clueless about how we come across or affect others in our lives.

If you notice that you find yourself alone a lot when you don’t want to be, or that people avoid you, then it might be time to evaluate your behaviors to see if it is all in your head, or the way you connect with people.

When people ignore you – 10 reasons why people might do that

The problem is that the more you believe people intentionally ignore you, the more standoffish you might be. You also might push people away because you already feel rejected. The only way to change course is to take a good look at what is real and what you might be creating for your own reality.

#1 You are too needy. It is uncomfortable to be around someone who always searches for approval or who can’t stand on their own two feet. If you constantly reach out and want more from the people around you, it can become exhausting.

Needy people start to feel like a noose around your neck. No one likes to be choked to death. If the reason people ignore you is because you are way too clingy, then try to back off and give people space. If they continually say they are busy, then give them some room and next time let them come to you. [Read: Effective ways to stop being so needy and insecure]

#2 You are a Debby Downer. No one likes to be with a Negative Nelson. If all you ever talk about are negative things, then you probably bring the room down. Negativity is like a plague, it kills all the fun around it.

If you experience a rough time in life, then work on your own issues and stop throwing them up all over everyone else. If you ask why do people ignore me, think about how you see life, half-full or bottomed out? We all go through phases where things aren’t so great in our lives. But, no one wants to be brought down all the time.

#3 You worry too much about being liked. Sometimes when people ignore you it is because you try way too hard to be liked. When someone is trying too hard to get people to like them they are uncomfortable to be around, specifically because they are uncomfortable in their own skin.

Constantly fumbling over themselves to help, never having an opinion that can’t be changed, or always following instead of leading, can be the thing that pushes people away. Ironically, when people ignore you, it might be because you want too much for them to like you. [Read: People pleaser – 20 common signs most people just don’t see]

#4 You are too intense. It is okay to have an opinion and to be passionate about things. In fact, it is human nature. But, if you are too intense and domineering, then you aren’t much fun to be around. If ranting and raving is your “thing,” then people limit what they say to you or they get an ear full that they are tired of listening to.

It is okay to have a political view or believe in global warming. If people ignore you, then you might want to step off your soap box and just let it go. Save the intensity for the time and place that it is warranted, not every day, all day.

#5 You don’t contribute much to the conversation. When people ignore you, it may be that you just don’t contribute much to the conversation or the friendship. No one likes to be the only one giving in a relationship. It is the give and take that makes bonding with someone worthwhile.

If you are way too passive and don’t have much to say or bring to the table, then it is more like having a vacant seat. If you notice people ignoring you, then speak up and tell them what is on your mind. You are allowed to have an opinion and a voice, so do so. Otherwise, you aren’t really living, you are only spectating. [Read: How to stop being boring and annoying around people]

#6 You’re being too opinionated. We all know that person who has the answer to everything. They typically start with the phrase “you know what you should do?” Often, people aren’t looking for you to solve their problems, they want to vent and talk through them with you to hear themselves think out loud and come to a conclusion on their own.

If you are too opinionated, it might have people ignoring you. No one wants to be told what to do, it makes them feel stupid and as if you don’t think they know how to conduct their own life. [Read: How to express your opinions without seeming cocky]

#7 You are selfish. It isn’t any fun to be with someone who only cares about themselves. If you only want to do what you want to do and aren’t interested in ever closing your mouth and listening and you just talk away, then there is a good reason why people ignore you.

Being selfish is not a good quality to maintain a friendship. Instead of always thinking of you, when people ignore you, it might be time to take a look at who you always put first. If it is you, then take a back seat for a while. [Read: 12 signs you’re being selfish in your relationships]

#8 You aren’t assertive enough. If you feel like you are always being ignored it might just be that you aren’t being assertive enough. You may think you tell people what you want, but you may not be communicating it correctly.

Often, when we feel ignored, it is because we say things and no one seems to be listening. It isn’t about talking more loudly but more poignantly. If you want people to hear you, then speak in a language they understand and ask for what you really want.

#9 People don’t know you need them. Some people have an exterior that they show to the world that is very different from their interior feelings. You might be displaying to those around you that you don’t need anyone or their help.

Perhaps when you feel like people are ignoring you, they really just don’t know that you want or need them around. Take a good look at the messages you send, and see if they coincide with how you feel on the inside or in direct opposition to. [Read: Why do people hate me? 15 reasons why others dislike you]

#10 It isn’t you, it is them. Sometimes when we get anxious that people ignore us we put the onus on ourselves like we have done something wrong. There are times when you try to get the attention of someone, and they just aren’t interested in having a relationship. Not everyone is going to like you.

If you have a couple of people in your life who you feel ignore you, then cut them loose and focus on those people who make you feel fulfilled and cared for. All too often we waste energy on the things that we don’t have instead of relishing in the things we do.

Sometimes when people ignore you, you see it as something that you are doing wrong to deserve their ignorance. The thing is that you can’t control anyone else’s behavior but your own.

[Read: How to make new friends as an adult – 15 ways to do it right]

If someone ignores you and you are okay with who you are, then it is on them. Let go and move on for your own happiness.

The good news is this one of a kind gift can be made the exact way you want it and this is what makes it so attractive and fun. Customizing photos and putting these on a usable blanket is sure to be something your partner will love.

Idea #2: Professional photo session

Can you imagine how nice it would be to have pictures of you and your significant other holding hands, giving hugs or kissing each other on the cheek?

This is sure to be one thing you will want to add to your list of things you have as a couple and can be an ideal way to have a lasting memory of your times spent together.

Simply set up an appointment date for both of you to have a photo shoot and this can enable you to make the most of your time together. The good news is this can be a lasting memory that may well stand the test of time and provide you with happy thoughts each time you view the photos.

Idea #3: Mountain retreat

Is there anything more romantic than simply taking the time to get away together? One of the best ways for you to reconnect with the love of your life may rest in taking some time and going on a little vacation.

You don’t have to miss a great deal of work or get too overwhelmed with the packing. Simply plan a weekend getaway and take a few essentials to help make your trip as special as the love you feel for each other.

The chances are high that this little gift idea can render huge dividends for your relationship and may even rekindle the spark that is necessary for a lasting union.

Idea # 4: Specialty gift baskets

One of the most endearing gifts to give is sure to be a custom made one. Taking the time to put together a few things that your partner enjoys is sure to bring a great deal of happiness to this person.

One way to reach this goal is to create a specialty gift basket that shows just how much you care. Add some items that may be representative of a particular hobby and this is sure to be a hit. The more you can customize this gift the better you’re sure to make it for the person in your life.

The key to making love last is sure to rest in the little things you do each day. This can be how to keep your relationship on the upside and prevent it from heading downward at all times.

All you need to do is to pay a little extra attention to the person you love today!

Book Review: The Lies We Tell Ourselves

Book Review: The Lies We Tell Ourselves

While writers such as Dan Ariely and Robert Trivers have explored the topic of self-deception from the perspectives of behavioral economics and evolutionary biology, the question we may often find ourselves asking is, just how do we stop lying to ourselves? In his new book, The Lies We Tell Ourselves: How to Face the Truth, Accept Yourself, and Create a Better Life, psychotherapist and founder of the Intensive Short Term Dynamic Psychotherapy Institute for Training and Research, Jon Frederickson, explores this very question.

Through revealing vignettes and powerful psychological insights, Frederickson removes the mask of our illusions to uncover a deeper, more profound truth — that when we live without distortion, avoidance, and deception, we also live with much more connection to ourselves, others, and the world around us.

Frederickson begins by reminding us that lying to ourselves is a universal way to avoid pain. And yet telling ourselves lies doesn’t really help us avoid pain, instead it usually causes more. “We suffer because we run from life, death, and the teachings they offer. We become healed when we embrace our inner life, our loved ones, and life itself,” he writes.

Just how we go about embracing the truth of our lives is through the therapeutic relationship. Frederickson tells us that therapy is not a method, technique, or something that is done to us, but rather a heart-to heart encounter — two people devoted to discovering the truths that have been avoided.

Sometimes it is our illusions that torture us. Here Frederickson introduces us to the mother who held on the desire for her forty-year-old son with autism to be normal. Only when the impossibility of her desire was brought to her attention could she accept that her suffering had been brought on not so much by her son’s autism, but her refusal to accept autism for what it is.

Healing from our illusions and the pain they cause, Frederickson tells us, begins in a relationship, “a relationship where the therapist doesn’t talk at us but with us.” Through this relationship, we explore our inner world, the feelings, urges, and desires that have been overlooked. What we discover is that we may have told ourselves something is wrong with us, with those around us, or even that we are broken.

And yet breaking down these truths, and the breakdown that follows, is often a breakthrough. Frederickson quotes the author, Jeff Foster, “Breakdown can always point to the breakthrough of a deeper truth, since only that which is false in you can break down. Truth does not break. Some call this recognition ‘waking up’, some call it ‘self-realization’.”

What we learn in therapy is the truth. When we can embrace reality, we can also see just how we may have engaged in a set of beliefs that were not only false, but the very beliefs that kept us imprisoned. “Grief,” Frederickson writes, “is not a problem, however, but a path. When we grieve, we surrender to the truth that washes away the false and leaves the real.”

Sometimes these falsehoods are less obvious, like when we choose to deny reality and employ what Frederickson calls “optimal hopelessness.” The trick here, he tells us, is not to give up on ourselves, but on a hopeless fantasy.

Yet embracing reality is not easy. We can refuse to embrace the truth for many reasons. Not only do we distort reality in our favor, something Frederickson calls “psychological cherry picking,” but we also may devalue those who wish to offer truth to us. And sometimes others devalue us, gaslighting us and attempting to convince us that we are, in fact, flawed.

It is here that Frederickson offers his own solemn truth: “In therapy and in life, we face two deaths: the death of our bodies and the death of our illusions.” By learning to stop hiding behind facades, we experience within ourselves a welcoming openness. As the barriers between us and what is dissolve, we begin to embrace ourselves not as ideal, but real.

The question for many then becomes, “freedom from the past, or freedom to embrace the future?” And freedom, Frederickson reminds us, “will not come by doubting our inner life but from accepting it as it passes by.”

In this embrace, we discover not what we want to be, but who we have always been. No longer will we fail to see ourselves clearly, but we will also see others as they are. Within this larger reality lies a relating that is deeper, more honest, and more percipient. As Frederickson explains, “Perhaps it is not so much that we see more deeply into others, but that we see more deeply from within ourselves, from that space in which knowledge arises.”

It is gritty wisdom such as this that makes The Lies We Tell Ourselves a transformative gem for anyone looking to live a more authentic, richer, and better life.

The Hidden Danger in Many Christian Marriage Books

dangerI realize I’m treading on sacred ground with this post, but I believe it is ground that must be treaded.

There are several popular and helpful works in the Christian marriage-help book world, The Five Love Languages, His Needs Her Needs, Love and Respect, The Love Dare to name a few of the major players.

While each of these works has offered up help and support, and possibly even hope to thousands of people throughout the world – there’s an undercurrent found within the pages that may actually be causing more harm than help.

While I want to believe that this undercurrent may not be intended by the authors (at least a couple of them) – the way the message is interpreted and applied to relationships doesn’t address the larger issue that plagues far too many marriages. Although it is worth noting that this larger issue isn’t something that can be solved … only understood and experienced.

While we’re on the subject, marriage isn’t something to be solved either.

It seems that the marriage-help world tries to treat marriage as a problem to be solved.

There are problems in marriage, absolutely. But marriage itself is not the problem. There isn’t a solution for marriage. Marriage is meant to be experienced, survived, frustrated by, enjoyed, savored, fought for, and won or lost by everyone who ventures into it’s waters. It’s a fact of the union.

Marriage is not meant to be solved – it is to be chosen. And this choice is just a much a choice on day 5,548 as it is day 1.

So what is this undercurrent that I see in most of the marriage-help books in the Christian arena?

The premise of the approaches subtly (or even overtly) promote fusion. Or to use a less psychobabblish term – codependency – quid pro quo – tit for tat – give to get – score boarding – or perhaps flat out manipulation.

I will concede that the framework suggested in most of the works do a good job in providing a “language” to use to help address the differences between husband and wife. It is a better path forward to understand that love according to my self is best shown through service or giving of gifts more than the amount of quality time spent with my mate. However, when my language isn’t reciprocated, or it is flat out denied, everything gets stirred up on a much deeper level.

And it’s this level where the works fall flat.

They offer a bandaid, but they don’t fully address the wound.

Or more aptly put – the source of the wound.

It is here that we often get bogged down and begin to think there’s something going wrong with marriage – thus, something that needs to be solved.

But what if what most often happens in married life is actually normal?

Living life with another flawed human is fraught with danger. Disappointment. Frustration. Pain.

What happens when you master the skill of speaking your spouse’s love language yet they still seem to be in pre-K with yours? Or when you took the dare and your spouse says challenge non-accepted? Or you recognize your needs yet your spouse solely focus on their own? Or you show your husband respect yet he seems clueless when it comes to love?

The problem is we too often seek to feel better about ourselves through our reflection from others. While a reflected sense of self is how we develop and mature – it only gets us so far until we face the problem of trying to figure out how to manipulate the reflection to get it to display what we want it to show. Yet, married life has a sophisticated way of revealing ourselves and who we truly are – while at the same time offering us the opportunity to refine ourselves into a far deeper and better version of our self!

Regardless of the bandaids that are offered in the marriage help world (and I’m guilty of offering them as well) – marriage problems are meant to happen. I believe God expressly created and mandated the institution of marriage so that such a relationship could mature us into better humans.

Conflict in marriage is not something to be solved. It is meant to be lived through. Or even meant to be simply survived at times. But marriage is not a mystery that has a solution. It’s a relationship that offers a process!

It is self-development bootcamp. Bandaids will be necessary along the way. But they aren’t going to offer healing.

Marriage creates scars.

So how do you begin to see these scars as something that can be a source of pride? Something that makes us solid? Authentic? Real?

Or as Alessia Cara says … Scars to your beautiful?

Should You Track the Frequency of Sex in Your Marriage?

How often do you have sex? It’s a question some spouses can easily answer, and some not so easily.

If you read my short story, “After the Baby,” in Behind Closed Doors: Five Marriage Stories, the main character is a husband who knows exactly how long it’s been since he and his wife made love. Because it’s been too long. And I get that in comments and emails from time to time — a spouse who can state with absolute accuracy how many times they’ve had sex with their mate in the last month or year.

Yet maybe we think we know, and don’t. Spouses are not always on the same page about how often sex is happening in their marriage.

I found it interesting that Jimmy Kimmel Live has grabbed couples off the street and asked how many times they’d had sex in the last month. Check out one clip from the show:

One couple matched each other’s answers, but the other didn’t. Why the discrepancy?

It made me think about the suggestion I’ve heard that a spouse track how often they make love in their marriage. Is this a good idea?

Calendar being marked with a pencil

I used to think probably not. Because this practice is often suggested by someone who thinks they’re not getting enough, and they’re basically looking for evidence (translation: ammunition) to make the case that they’re being cheated.

But I then I decided to test it out myself. Unbeknownst to my husband (Hi, love! Are you reading this?), I marked on my calendar the days we made love for about a month. And you know what? It was more often than I thought it would be.

As the higher-drive spouse right now in our marriage, maybe I was a little more focused on when it wasn’t happening than when it was. And isn’t that really a bit short-sighted? Perhaps even selfish?

Now that I have a better sense of our routine, I can relax a little more. Yes, I sometimes want a higher frequency of sexual intimacy, but we’re doing pretty well. And putting those instances on the calendar, I could connect what might have gotten in the way of us making love or, better yet, what made it a good time to make love.

My general conclusion was that loaded calendar days kept us from connecting in many ways, including physically, while quality time together often ended with lovemaking. Hardly a stunning revelation, but it was helpful to see in my own life.

If you can approach tracking the frequency as an interesting experiment, perhaps it would be worthwhile to see how often you’re making love. I suspect what would happen is what occurred in the video. Some couples would find that they’re having sex about as often as they thought, and then they can decide whether that’s enough for their marriage or if they need to make some calendar changes.

Other spouses will discover a discrepancy — probably because lower-drive spouses think they’re doing it more often than they are, and higher-drive spouses think they’re doing it less often than they are. For this second couple, it could be eye-opening to discover the truth of what’s happening in your relationship. And it might pinpoint an attitudinal or behavioral change you need to make for the wellbeing of your marriage.

Having actual data could help you avoid making unfounded accusations about what’s happening in your sex life. After all, one of the Ten Commandments is “You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor” (Exodus 20:16). And let’s face it: Some spouses have falsely accused their spouse of pursuing more or giving less sex than they actually are. If you’re tracking to uncover the truth, maybe this idea would work for you.

Have you ever tracked the frequency of sex in your marriage? Were you surprised by the results? Do you consider this a good or a bad idea?

Don’t Focus on the Fight, Go Deeper

When we’re involved in a disagreement/argument/fight, we men usually do one of two things. We either fight with all we have to win, or we walk away. If we fight it out, the way our brains are wired and the way our hormones work we are prone to tunnel vision, seeing just the issue and nothing else. We can easily lose sight of the bigger picture.

Don't Focus on the Fight, Go Deeper

Often the issue we’re arguing about isn’t the real issue. We use things as proxies, a way of dealing with being unhappy or upset without having to discuss the real reason for those feelings. A common way men do this is to pick a fight when they are upset at a lack of sex. The real issue is sex, but the fight is about something completely different.

Women do the same thing, for different reasons. A woman may pick a fight to start a conversation. The issue of the fight isn’t what’s bothering her; she’s unhappy because she feels a lack of connection with her husband. (See Confronting to Connect ) Or, she might use a symbolic issue to try to deal with a bigger underlying issue. If she is forever complaining you don’t take out the trash the deeper issue might be she feels unloved because you’re not doing the acts of service that speak love to her.

Your marriage will be better if you can learn to look for the deeper issues below the things you fight about. At first, you will probably only do this after an argument is over, but if you keep practising you should become able to do it during the disagreement. As you see the deeper motivations, both yours and hers, work to discuss those things. Discussing the deeper issues is more difficult and maybe even scary, but the results are well worth the effort.

How to Get Over Someone You See Every Day Without Losing It

Dating someone at the office seemed romantic and naughty, until you broke up. Here’s how to get over someone you see every day without losing it.

Remember when all your friends told you not to date the kid in your sociology class, or when your entire family told you dating the person from the office was a terrible idea? Well, they were right. Dealing with the heartache may seem difficult, but learning how to get over someone you see every day isn’t any easier.

Dating someone you see everyday seems like a great idea right up until the moment you break up. Now you’re forced to see them interact with other people while giving you the stink eye on a daily basis. Or worse, they start another relationship, and you have to watch it blossom with hateful envy for the next couple weeks. Basically, it’s the worst.

Getting over someone you love is hard on a good day. Learning how to get over someone you see everyday makes your job that much harder. After all, there’s no potential for distance. So, what do you do? Follow these eight tips on how to get over someone you see every day.

How to get over someone you see every day

When you’re at home or in the comfort of your inner circle, you feel good. You feel confident that the memory of your ex exists only in a fleeting fragment of time forever labeled: “LOL. What was I thinking?” That is… until you see them at work.

Seeing your ex on a daily basis brings back emotional baggage that umbrellas a number of different feelings. You may fall in love with them all over again or you may want to rip their eyeballs out and stomp on their new iPhone. It all depends on the day.

Point being, seeing your ex on a daily basis isn’t healthy. Here’s how to get over someone you see every day.

#1 Go through the grieving process—but do it privately. There are many stages of grieving you go through to get over a breakup. And while publicly humiliating your ex at your shared place of business might seem like one of them, it truly isn’t.

You’re meant to experience the grieving process and go through mind-numbing examinations of what went wrong. You’re allowed to feel hurt and guilt and sadness. Just, don’t do it at work. This is unprofessional. After all, you don’t want to lose your job as well as your partner, do you? [Read: Dealing with heartbreak: 12 steps to do it the right way]

#2 Anticipate the worst. This may sound cynical, but imagining the worst scenarios that might happen between you and your ex may help you decide in advance how to deal with them. From the meager to the mighty, what would you do if these scenarios come up in public?

– You run into your ex in an elevator.
– You get into a fight with your ex at work.
– You have breakup sex with your ex at work.
– You cry over your ex at work.
– You and your ex try and hurt one another emotionally/physically at work.
– Your ex starts dating someone else you see every day.
– Your ex won’t speak to you or acknowledge you in public.

Facing these potential realities gives you the time to consider how to handle them if they come up. Pro tip? Never have breakup sex with your ex, especially not in a public environment. [Read: Sex with your ex – When it’s okay and when you HAVE to stay clear]

#3 Keep it professional. You don’t want to be the girl that has a jealous meltdown in the break room or the guy who sends mean texts right before your ex is about to head into an exam. Okay, maybe you *want* to be that person—but don’t.

Keep it professional when you’re at work. Your colleagues, boss, and ex all silently thank you for your maturity. [Read: 15 very effective rules to forget someone you once cared for]

#4 Don’t make people choose sides. That’s what friends are for—not colleagues! Besides, you’re not 15 anymore. There’s no reason to play the “You’re not allowed to talk to themm anymore!” game with the people in your social circle. Avoid childish gossiping and set the standard for your co-workers or fellow students to follow by being cordial to your ex.

#5 Don’t be too nice. You’re adulting. You got this. You’re being super cordial with your ex to avoid those awkward silences. You treat them just like you treat the guy who takes a million smoke breaks or the woman who drinks milk every day at lunchtime. Polite, but not too close.

Just make sure you’re not being too cordial. You don’t want anyone to get the idea that you’re still into this person or are being fake-nice. They mustn’t see through your ruse. [Read: 14 things to keep in mind when you bump into your ex]

#6 Get an after-work hobby. Let’s face it, your job takes up the majority of your time each day. This makes it that much harder when you now have to spend the majority of your day with someone you’d rather not see again in your lifetime. For this reason, it’s good to find a new hobby that you do every day after work.

This gives you something to look forward to after a long day. It’s also good to know that if you’re having a frustrating day, you’ll be able to blow off steam later. Join a fitness class, take up archery, or join a sports team. Whatever your fancy, you’ll love knowing there was more to your day than staring at your ex while you work.

#7 Get a new job. It may be a little extreme, but if being around your ex all day long stunts your emotional growth, your best bet may be to look for employment elsewhere. You could also ask your super cool boss if you to be transferred.

If you’re going to university with your ex and sitting far away from them in class isn’t enough, try asking your professor to switch you to a night class instead. [Read: How to move on and deal with a break up with a smile]

#8 Don’t do it again. Most breakups cause heartache, confusion, anger, discomfort, and a newfound appreciation for overanalyzing situations. This pain seems to be magnified when you have to continue to see this person every single day. There’s no escape! May this office breakup teach you the important lesson of never starting up a workplace romance again.

[Read: What you need to do when a relationship with a coworker ends]

Breakups suck hard on a good day. On a bad day, you still have to work with that person—ouch. No one said it was going to be easy, but with these little steps, you can learn how to get over someone you see every day, slowly and surely.

4 Secrets Of Office Politics

Talent, energy, and intelligence are not enough to get ahead in the world. And for all the talk on the virtues of teamwork and cooperation there is little evidence that they work equally in everyone’s favor. When it comes down to it, ambition is the only thing that matters. Only stubborn determination can get you to the top of your profession or organization.

Benjamin Franklin defined politics as the art of the possible. I think the latter incidental to the true nature of politics. Which is ambition—the desire of one individual to be master over others. Deep inside that is what you really want: to be the chief, the boss, the person calling the shots and receiving the money and status that comes with that position.

To get to the top you must navigate your way through the politics of the office. I advise you to begin your journey by disabusing yourself of certain illusions. Ass kissing, for example, is not a form of politicking. People who do that are seen as weak and pathetic by those in power and advance slowly if it all. The ability to see, to understand, and to be guided by the realities of human nature is what will get you the brass ring.

Here are 4 secrets of office politics:

1. You must be ruthless

Not every person among your peers will advance. It is likely that only one of you will break out from the rest and be promoted. It must be you. You spend a great deal of time with the people you work with and so are bound to make friends. However, you must not let that override the demands of your professional ambition. If getting ahead means taking action that casts them in a bad light or undoes them, you must execute without compunction.

But take heed. No one likes an asshole or a rat. You cannot be seen by those above, below, or on the same level as you as a sellout or a snitch.

Let’s say, for example, that one of your friend’s has been promoted to team lead. You know that you could do a better job and that he is not really up to it. In engineering his downfall, you must make it look as though others on the team have come independently to the same conclusion that you have. It would be bad form to say disparaging or unkind things about him. You must instead quietly and subtly arrange things so that each individual makes the same observations to the head boss about your friend’s shortcomings.

2. Excellence is nothing without arrogance

Excellence without arrogance is a fine slogan. But I suspect that even the person who came up with it doesn’t really believe in it. People like to go around saying how much they detest overconfidence and arrogance. This is not the case. The humble, shy, soft-spoken career man rarely advances above the level of useful technocrat. Power is inextricably linked with boldness. How can you expect to exercise it if you are not willing believe that you are indispensable, that the people and the organization need you, that destiny demands that you be in authority? The fact is people are instinctively attracted to egoism and bravado: they want to see what the self-styled hero can do. Never think that your work and abilities will speak for themselves. You must do your utmost to ensure that the people who matter notice them.

3. Sex is a weapon

Good looks matter. If you have them, you should not be afraid to use them. Never mind the old cliché of sex as a weapon: sex is a weapon. Some of the most notable leaders in history have flirted, seduced, and teased their way into positions of power. Sexual charm is as much at the disposal of men as it is for women. If you know you have sex appeal, you should not hesitate to make alliances with your women superiors—especially the older ones—by flirting with them. You may find that a number of your male bosses are likewise susceptible to certain suggestions. You don’t have to follow through with anything; the point is to be desired and thus in a position of power and influence.

4. You are the leader

Lastly, you should act as though you are the leader. If the bosses see that you already possess the capacity and willingness to think independently and come to your own judgments and conclusions, they will accept you as an equal. This can only increase your chances of being promoted sooner rather than later.

Sex With A Piscean: This Is What Itandamprsquos Really Like

Ever been on a yacht in the middle of the night under the moon and the stars? Had the wind blow smoothly enough to give you just the perfect chill? And then imagined all the stars twist in to one spiral so you feel like you’re floating in the middle of it all but, you couldn’t care less because it feels so good that you could stay like that forever? That’s what sex with a Pisces is like.

It’s slow dancing in a burning room; it’s the peaceful easy feeling; it’s like being taken to church and it’s burning love… even when it’s not love. To have sex with a Pisces is to feel love in its most physical form. It’s to feel holy while doing something dirty; it’s like feeling divine while doing something that could have you cast in to hell in the 16th century. That is sex with a Pisces.

I’ve been with three such 3 such creatures of divinity and I happen to be one myself… not to sound like a braggart. But, never underestimate sex with us. If you came around looking for a one night stand, we’ll make you want to stay for breakfast the next morning, without really meaning to. Pisces are some of the sweetest people you will come across; it’s written in the stars… they’re charming in their most goofy quirks and that’s what strangely enough, gets you off.

We treat you like a canvas we want to paint; we want to draw all over you and then fill in the colours—inside and out. We want you to come alive when we’re working on you. We want to hear our art speak in words that cannot be spoken. It’s like Picasso in the modern day. The Pisces has the tendency to treat their romantic, or sexual partners as his, or her muse. We watch you. We really observe you—how you move when we touch you; how you respond when we caress your body—every curve, every edge, every scar and every dimple. We embrace your flawed perfections and make you feel like the most beautiful thing in the world the entire time.

Sex with a Pisces is like an entire meditational process. It’s like a sonata. It starts small and mellow, quiet and devotional. It starts way before you have even touched each other. It starts with the eyes and the mind. We’ve already imagined you in unforgivable ways, doing unforgettable things that we’re not telling you about… just yet. The Pisces has already built it up in your head so that you’re flustered with anticipation. It will happen anytime now…

…And then it happens; the Pisces has reeled you in. You’re past the point of no return and you’re about to fade into the most pleasurable oblivion of your life. It’s too late to get out now; you’re too far into the deep end of the water. You’re in Pisces’ territory and they’re going to teach you how to breathe underwater. The Pisces enjoys sex like divination; it’s transcendental for them. There’s probably a very good reason why most Pisceans have never had bad sex their entire lives; it’s because they somehow manage to make every sexual encounter just as pleasurable as—if not more than—the previous one. What makes it so good is the fact that sex, for a Pisces is in the here and now. The past and the future cease to exist. All that exists is you and your Pisces in a moment that is prolonged and time stands still.

The kiss is the first arrow—it starts gentle and is the most anticipated in all of eternity; you’d been waiting for this moment all along. You saw it coming; you just didn’t know when. It’s like their lips make love to yours in the gentlest way there ever was. It’s soft, slow and delicate. And then you’re lost in the way their tongue feels, entangled in yours, the way they taste—a very subtle hint of musky; the way they smell while holding you close, as if you were a part of their own body. You can feel their hands on you, caressing your skin like it was the first time someone ever touched anything so fragile. Yet, there’s a quiet strength in the urgency with which the Pisces wants you. It feels like the choice was yours all along; little do you know that was what the Pisces wanted you to thing. They lure you in with mystery, depth, intensity and a hidden charm you can’t quite grasp. They’re natural and authentic; you’ve never been with anyone like this before. They’re vulnerable in that moment and yet, somehow, you’re the one possessed. You can feel their arms wrap around you; you’re wanted and it’s been made clear to you. You wouldn’t be there, in their space if they didn’t want you there. For a Pisces, sex is sharing—the most intimate parts of their souls—with another. It’s bonding and it’s merging two souls; never mind if it’s just for that moment, just for that night, just for that duration.

The Pisces knows how to touch you in a way that lets every inch of your body come alive; you want them already, and it’s as natural as wanting to live. When a Pisces takes you, you can feel a part of you break away entirely and for good. They take you effortlessly and irrevocably. And it is endless. Time and space warp when you’re having sex with a Pisces. The world stands still while you take each other, again and again and again. They won’t stop till you’ve climaxed… in them, on them and with them. And after you’ve climaxed, they’ll do it all over again, driving you over the edge, time and again. And you won’t even want them to stop. It’s sweet surrender and even if you’re the more controlling of the two, you will give in, helplessly.

Sex With A Piscean: This Is What It’s Really Like© Thinkstock/Getty Images

Sex with a Pisces is the kind where you close your eyes, say your silent prayers, go to church and feel like you witnessed heaven. It’s the cheesiest Bryan Adams’ song and the dirtiest romance novel you never read. It’s the kind of sex that makes you want to go on like that forever; the kind where you wish that the sun never rises, the night never dies and you can stay like that forever. It’s the kind where you are the priority; it’s all about you and that’s how it’s about him, or her. The Pisces takes foreplay to a whole new level, it’s as main as the real thing and you want both in equal measure. It’s about every part of your body and every inch of your skin being in perfect synchronization with every nerve in the Pisces’ body. It’s about intertwined fingers and entangled bodies and enamoured minds. It’s about sweat and girth and friction and flow.

Sex with a Pisces is a poem by Pablo Neruda; it’s a master piece by Picasso; it’s a song by John Mayer and it’s a Shakespearean story. Sex with a Pisces will make you want to be in love; even if it’s just for one night. And you don’t need a bed.

Successful Dating As You Grow Older

couple by the beach

In most cases, once you have been introduced to a person you are able to handle the date and know what you are doing. Oftentimes, the initial meeting is the hardest part of starting any relationship. If you know how situations are different and changed as you grow older and meet new people will help you to understand what you will be up against when you are trying to meet someone and date.

As women get older, they have a higher chance of meeting people due to the fact that there is a much higher woman to men ratio for older women. The older the woman, the more competition they are going to have. At the age of 50, the odds are increased even higher and the competition goes up again.

As for men, as they age they have a much lower rate due to an increase in suicide and death. So, there are less men looking to meet women as age increases. It is well known that most often women outlive men. This makes the ratio of men to women different and more sided toward women with increase in age.

People sometimes choose to let their friends set them up for a date. There can be good and bad things with this situation. If it is a successful relationship, it is wonderful. However, it is much more common that it does not work out and then friends can become offended or feel like they are in the middle. They may very well have the best intentions, but you need to do some serious thinking before you decide to accept this date and their help that they are offering.

There are ways to increase your odds of finding the right person to be in your life. Look closely at yourself. What picture are you giving to others? How do they see you? This is very important to look at and figure out. Look carefully at yourself to find out if there are changes that you need to make in order to be more presentable and appealing to potential mates. It is imperative to make yourself as desirable as possible if you want the best odds of finding a partner.

Are you the type of person that starts conversations? Most often, this is the best way to meet a new person. Take the initiative and be the first to talk to someone. Create an open door of potential for a new friend or possibly more. In some cases, you have to take the initiative yourself and stick your neck out. Take the chance and talk to people to make sure that you can take advantage of every possible opportunity to meet someone that could potentially turn into a relationship.

Starting a conversation or talking to people does not have to be a complex task. It is very simple. Introduce yourself. Tell them your name. Comment about their outfit or what they are wearing. Tell them about something that you witnessed them doing and what you thought about it. It is simply a matter of talking and starting a conversation. You just need to open the door.

Rebuilding Your Relationship To Rekindle The Passion

dating couple

There comes a point in almost any successful relationship where things calm down and cool off. There is no longer a major spark between the partners. They get comfortable in their relationship and develop a routine. They no longer find as much time to spend together. Often, this is not due to a lack of desire between the couple. Most often it is the fact that life gets in the way. They may have children or careers to deal with. They are busy and just do not have the free time that they had when their relationship was in the beginning stages.

Most people realize this problem and they will eventually have a desire to change it. They want to get that spark back and reconnect with each other. No matter how strong that desire and want is however, they have to find ways to change it. If they cannot, then there is no way that things will change and in the end they could have a relationship that ends due to the needs not being met. There is nothing worse than knowing that there is a problem and doing nothing to change it or make it better. This is a self destructive pattern.

It is important to make time to spend with your partner. No matter how long you have been in a relationship, you should still go on dates and have personal time alone. Not only does this keep the relationship healthy, but it also protects your sanity. You are free to focus on nothing but, the other person. There are no kids to contend with and no outside interference.

Ideally, dates should be made at least once a month. Hire a babysitter ahead of time so that you are not stuck without anyone to watch the kids on the night of your date. You do not have to go out and do anything that costs a lot of money. It is more about spending time together than it is about what you do.

A simple walk in the park or picnic under the stars is very romantic. In some cases, you do not even have to go out. Find friends or family that the kids can spend the night with. Then, have a candlelit dinner with your partner. You could also cuddle up on the couch together and watch a movie. There are unending possibilities of what you can do for your date. Just set the dates and stick to them. It is all about follow through.

Spending time together is often all that is needed to put the spark back into a relationship. You will find that you are less stressed and that your bond is stronger. You begin to find time to be together again. You have that old desire. There is no longer a monotonous life that has taken over.

You begin to change your relationship and get it back to the way that it used to be. This can ensure that you are together for a very long time and that you are both happy.

Living Together – Things You Should Consider

happy-family

There are legal aspects to consider when making the decision to live together. When people are married, they have different rights than they do if they are just cohabitating with each other. These rights can be devastating in cases of death or hospitalization or surgery. Yet they are still rights the couple will need to completely understand so they will be prepared for the ramifications should any such situation happen to them.
When a spouse dies, the other spouse automatically has the rights to the body and any procedures such as burial or cremation. The couples that live together do not always have the same rights based on the states where they reside. Each state has different laws, so it is wise to learn the laws about living together and the rights of each individual.
When the spouse is in the hospital, the other spouse has the rights of visitation as well as the access to personal information regarding the spouse and their treatments or conditions. The couples who are not married generally do not have these rights. Imagine living with someone and they are rushed to the emergency room where you are not able to know anything about the person or their condition. It would be a traumatizing experience.
When the spouse becomes disabled, the other spouse can make decisions about their care. The unmarried couples do not automatically have any say to the care or treatment of the other person. This can delay the treatment of the individual who may require speedy treatment.
To avoid some of the negative issues involved with cohabitation, there is a legal method to help the situation. It is called a Power of Attorney (POA). It is a legal document giving legal authority to the partner in cases of financial or other situations where they can make decisions and act for the best interests of the certain person. To find out more about a POA, consult legal counsel in the state of residence.
It is very important to remember if there is a POA, to update the information should the couple end their relationship. The POA will still be in effect until any changes are made to void the document. This is very important to know since the person listed on the POA will still have legal rights to the different aspects of the other person抯 life including their financial items.
Taking the time to make the proper preparations for living together will help to avoid needless heartaches, heartaches, and delays. It will help both people receive the rights to each other should the need arise for them to know about certain aspects or take care in the different situations they may face.

My Boyfriend Broke Up With Me – Now What

problem couple

If you’re facing the hurt, the doubt and the loneliness of a recent breakup with your boyfriend there are some things you can do to win him back and some things you have to avoid at all costs.  So if you’ve just said “my boyfriend broke up with me” the tips in this article can help.

For most women who are  going through a breakup the tendency to try to contact your boyfriend to ‘talk some sense into him’ is almost overwhelming.  It’s hard to resist, but if you want your boyfriend back you have to resist the urge to contact him.

Men aren’t known for their strength in dealing with emotions, theirs or yours.  They often shut down and run away.  Whatever reason your boyfriend had for breaking up with you it’s imperative that you give him space.

Men are also known for being ego driven.  If you constantly try to cling to him this might feed his ego but it’s unlikely to help the two of you re-unite.
If he still cares about you this space will allow him time to remember the wonderful things  you’ve shared and to miss you.

It’s also important for you to live your life.  Go out with friends and genuinely try to be happy.  I know this may sound ridiculous but if you try you’ll be surprised at how much better you can feel.

The fact is no one wants to be around someone who is miserable.  If you try to use your unhappiness to ‘guilt’ your boyfriend into taking you back this will not only not work but it will just make you seem needy and pathetic and make him want to run far, far away.

A little distance is good for you too.  The two of you broke up for a reason. Some space might give you the time to figure out what went wrong.  Spend this time trying to improve yourself, not just to get him back but because you want to be the best ‘you’ that you can be.  Now is a good time to honestly evaluate yourself and make the necessary changes.

Taking the time to find and fix yourself will make you come out stronger no matter what happens. If the two of you get back together you will have a better chance of making your relationship work and if you don’t get back together you will be a better person and have more of a chance of finding a stable relationship next time around.

So if you’re asking the question: “My boyfriend broke up with me, now what?” then it’s time for you to follow the advice above.  It’s the best way to get yourself and your boyfriend back.
